ACTIVITIES |
Diabetica's core business activities are centred around the following major areas: |
| >> GIP DRUGS - Drugs for type 2 diabetes and obesity |
Proprietary and unique GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) platform technology, which has so far yielded two commercializable drugs, first-in-class insulin stimulating GIP agonist, and insulin sensitizing and weight-loss promoting GIP antagonist. These drugs represent a new generation of long-acting “smart therapeutics” built from naturally occurring human peptides. Further details on GIP drugs are can be found in articles in the News page including the agreement with Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc, to take GIP agonists to market. |
| >> BIOMARKERS - Clinical biomarkers |
| Including discovery of pre-diabetes/diabetes diagnostic biomarker – currently under development under commercial deal with Big Pharma Diagnostics Subsidiary (confidential, not disclosed). |
|
| >> CELLS - Bioengineered human beta-cells |
|
Including commercialization of novel bioengineered cultured human insulin releasing pancreatic beta cells with immediate applications for large scale, high-throughput drug screening and development – including non-exclusive licence to global pharmaceutical companies (confidential, not disclosed). |
| >> CCK DRUGS - Antiobesity peptides |
Diabetica has generated another platform technology based on the peptide cholecystokinin (CCK), with current focus on identifying a lead appetite-suppressing, weight-reducing molecule for commercialization and clinical development. |
| >> DRUG DISCOVERY - New therapeutic and diagnostic molecules |
Early stage pipeline technologies are in development, based on discovery of novel anti-diabetic agents from a range of natural sources. |
The opportunity exists to partner with Diabetica to capitalize on existing and future intellectual property in the area of diabetes control and treatment. |
